Garlic and Herb Appetizer Bread
Time got away from us today. We had begun marinating ribs early this morning to cook for dinner. At 5:00pm we realized we hadn’t yet started the fire and ribs were going to take a couple of hours. Looking at what we had in the house, there were only a few options. Pizza dough, butter, garlic and fresh herbs and Garlic and Herb Appetizer Bread was born. This was a great appetizer but could also be served alongside your main dish.
1 tube prepared pizza dough
1 stick butter
Fresh basil, thyme and parsley
9 inch cake pan
microwave safe bowl or measuring cup
Begin by cutting the dough into 9-10 1 inch disks. Slice those disks in half and roll into balls.
Dip each of the dough balls into melted butter using a slotted spoon so excess butter drains and the dough balls retain their shape. Place in circles in a 9 inch cake pan. There will be room between them but they will fill in the spaces while baking. Bake 15-18 minutes in a 425 degree oven
While bread is baking mince garlic and add to reserved butter. Mince herbs
Remove from the oven. Pour butter and garlic mixture over hot bread and sprinkle with herbs. Serve immediately
- 1 tube prepared pizza dough
- 1 stick butter
- 2 tablespoons mixed herbs (basil, parsley, thyme)
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- Open pizza dough and leave in rolled shape. Melt one stick of butter in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl or measuring cup. Cut pizza dough into 8-10 sections. Slice the sections lengthwise with your knife. You should have 19-20 pieces. Roll the pieces into balls and dip each one in the butter using a slotted spoon. Reserve butter. This will allow them to maintain the shape. Place in a circle around the outer edge of a 9 inch round cake pan. Repeat the circle and place one dough ball in the center. The dough should be close but not touching. The spaces will fill in as the dough bakes. Mince herbs and three cloves of garlic. Add minced garlic to the reserved butter. Bake approximately 15 minutes in a 425 degree oven. Tops will be browned and Remove from oven. Pour butter and garlic over bread and sprinkle with herbs.
This Garlic and Herb Appetizer Bread really helped take the edge off the hunger while we were waiting for our dinner to cook. I’m looking forward to making it for a get together we are having in June. Do you have an easy go to appetizer recipe? Leave a comment and tell me about it. I love trying new things!
