Welcome to Screwyism.com. I’m Julie and I’d like to give you a little verbal tour of what Screwyism is and what it is not. Screwyism was born as a play on words, or playing with words. We like to do that a lot. If Webster heard half the conversations at our house, he’d be shaking his head.
First of all Screwyism is not even a word. My husband Jeff and I were brainstorming domain names and Screwyism just made us giggle. Honestly, in a world where we are so busy and juggling so many things, we all need a few more smiles and giggles. Screwyism to us a reminder not to take it all to seriously.
What you will find at Screwyism
A chronicle of recipes, projects and stories and suggestions for living your life. Our hope is that we can share:
- Simple, beautiful meals and recipes to feed your family.
- Projects that help you make your home the place you want it to be.
- Real life lessons and solutions for common problems.
- Saving the best for last – a few smiles, laughs and giggles along the way.
I have a full time job in the financial services industry and I am married to Jeff. We have been married for almost two years. Meeting each other was the biggest surprise and gift that life has given us. We were both in our mid/late 40’s when we met. Neither of us had ever been married and our children came with fur. Our parents had stopped asking if we were dating or ever expecting that we would meet someone. Quite frankly so had we. We were adults that had long lived alone. We had two households. The animal equivalent of the Brady Bunch or a small petting zoo, (3 dogs and 3 cats). We started the adventure of combining our lives in 2014. Between introducing the families, introducing the pets, selling a home, planning a wedding, changing jobs…its been a busy three years.
Much of what you will find on Screwyism.com is the evolution of combining all of those elements into a happy life. Not all of that has been easy. Learning to live with someone else, combining households, managing finances, families, jobs, when we were quite frankly used to making our own decisions and not having to think about anyone else.
Nothing anyone else isn’t challenged with on a daily basis. We joke, sing and laugh a lot. We try not to take things too seriously and my hope is that our pages will help you solve simple things like “What’s for Dinner” or “What should I remodel” or maybe make you think about something differently or laugh out loud. Jeff’s adventures with removing popcorn ceilings are a future post that will either have you in stiches or shaking your head.
